  • Reflection Question
Electricity Learn More about Wave and Tidal Energy
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?

Wave and tidal energy is generated from the movements of waves and tides. This energy source could be better than other energy sources for San Diego specifically, because we're a costal area.  However, in different states, like Arizona, solar energy may be more beneficial.
  • Reflection Question
    Transportation Use Public Transit
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

On my college search, I've used public transportation to get from place to place and it's influenced which colleges I like and dislike.

Thank you for raising awareness of women's and gender equality issues. What is the next step to actually address this disparity?

By advocating to change government policies that negatively impact women, we help balance out the sexist society we've created.  For example, women's abortion rights are currently being denied in this country.  If we are able to regrant this basic human right to women in states where it is now banned, we will help promote equality.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?

I again supported a female-owned jewelry shop to buy earrings.  I have bought several earrings from this shop, which is on Etsy.  I often support other women on that same website, doing my best to help individual young artists.
  • Reflection Question
Transportation Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

I use an electric bike personally when I need to get to locations that are too far to walk, but close enough that driving isn't necessary.  By utilizing an electric bike, I help reduce carbon emissions on a small scale.  However, if everyone tried to prioritize biking, I believe the environment would greatly benefit.

How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

You can learn how to shop mindfully and even create your own clothes and accessories using sustainable products.  Additionally, second-hand clothes are another great option for if you have to buy clothes.  However, the most productive solution is to buy scarcely and when you do shop, research the companies you may be supporting.
