  • Reflection Question
    Transport Purchase a Carbon Offset
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2. What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:52 AM
Airlines now will offer options for carbon offset as part of the ticket purchasing process!
  • Reflection Question
    Transport Use Public Transit
How has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:52 AM
With PAE providing public transit passes, this is a great option to avoid driving.
  • Reflection Question
Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:52 AM
I'm excited to see how I can improve my commute and errand routine by going manual/electric!
  • Reflection Question
    Food Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:51 AM
Composting is a simple and easy way to reduce your contribution to landfills
  • Reflection Question
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:50 AM
I've heard a lot about the history of meat eating in the US and how it originated as a class differentiation where the poor couldn't eat meat. As time went on poverty rates reduced and meat availability increased (along with preservation systems) that allowed more people to buy and eat meat.
  • Reflection Question
    Materials Install a Toilet Bank
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:42 AM
Reducing usage allows for ease of resiliency by decreasing the size of the initial system which then reduces the size of redundant systems.
  • Reflection Question
    Materials Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:41 AM
I'm excited to install these and save on money and water!
  • Reflection Question
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:40 AM
Knowing what can't be recycled can be just as important as knowing what can be recycled.
  • Reflection Question
Electricity Generation Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

    Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:40 AM
PGE and NW Natural both offer great offset solutions!

  • Kyle Garske 3/06/2019 9:39 AM
Excited for this to start up once again!
