  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

Some other benefits of smaller portion size is its healthier for you, it reduces the amount of food that may be wasted, and we are mindful of how much we are putting into our body.

How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

Knowing the difference between use by, sell by and best by dates help me to make a better decision because when I am grocery shopping I know if I should buy something or not by the date on it. If the date is at least 2 weeks away then I probably won't buy it because I know the chances of it going to waste are pretty high.
  • Reflection Question
    Transportation Try Carpooling
List some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

During my week I usually travel to the grocery store, restaurants, and class. I have begun reaching out to others to carpool with, for example, if I know that one of my friends also needs to go to the grocery store I will ask if they want to go together. Also, with class I find someone who lives in the same dorm building as me and ask if they would like to carpool to class each week.

What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

On my daily walks I have noticed that my mood changes significantly after my walk and I feel healthier. I think having my friends come on walks with me would make it more enjoyable.
  • Reflection Question
    Transportation Use Muscle Power

My transportation choices affect my engagement in my community because by choosing to travel less or carpool with others then I am contributing less pollution to the environment. I usually enjoy walking or biking because its healthier for both the environment and myself.
  • Reflection Question

Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

My eating experience differs when I practice mindfulness because I am more focused on my meal and on what my bodies telling me. When I am distracted while eating sometimes I just keep eating without thinking if I am actually full, and I end up eating too much.
