    Transport Conduct Virtual Meetings
How can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?

Yesterday I had my first meeting on Zoom! An online meeting call that allowed screen sharing and multiple participants. I met with IT and an app coordinator to talk about the use of an app on our campus!

    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Karianne Canfield 4/03/2019 12:43 PM
Even now I have chosen to bring a reusable coffee cup and food container to my school's location. I always bring them everywhere so I never have to use paper!

So important with so few durables in Kline right now- thank you!
  • Reflection Question
    Materials Go Paperless
What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

    Karianne Canfield 4/03/2019 12:38 PM
Instead of taking notes in paper notebooks I have begun to use primarily my laptop for class notes, readings, and clubs! This cuts down ALOT on the paper I print, and allows me to buy digital books too!

      @Craig Diaz

Yeah actually! First make it easy for yourself, choose a program that is best for reading digitally, I use DRAWBOARD PDF Viewer on windows and it's super simple plus has note taking and highlighting.

You can also find your computers brightness settings and set it to a read mode- many computers have specific red lite settings that make it easier for eyes.

Finally, I'd invest in speed reading- I don't have to stare at the screen or move my eyes across it because I am a pretty good speed reader. There are apps that can teach you to read from the center words, I feel as though this helps alot!

I hope these tips r useful I find they all make digital work less stressful and more efficient :)

Fantastic!  I find that the screen causes me a lot of eye strain and so I print a LOT of articles.  Any tips on how to improve my screen reading experience?

How can you take your commitment to sustainable living beyond yourself? How can you, personally, work toward broader change?

    Karianne Canfield 4/03/2019 12:36 PM
We just installed a new recycling area in the post office! And have spent the last 8 weeks doing recycle mania where we relabeled bins across campus to be on dual stream and helped educate students on how to use dual recycling. We also employed new composting in one food hall where the students are actively composting themselves!

tell me more sometime!  I'd love to put a link on our website here (I think that's where learning how to compost belongs?): https://sites.google.com/view/dutchessdrawdown/food
