Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Magdeline Aylor 4/24/2019 9:07 PM
You can protect peatlands by using less carbon and plastic, and some other things that pollute the environment. Peatlands are very important so we should preserve them.

What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

    Magdeline Aylor 4/24/2019 9:39 AM
I didn't really have to restructure my trip in any way, I was just going to Charlotte for about a week. However, before we went my parents were kind of talking about flying to Charlotte to save a bit of time but eventually we just decided to take a car instead. I'm gonna try to convince my stepdad and mom to drive to New York instead of flying next time we visit family.

In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

    Magdeline Aylor 4/24/2019 9:34 AM
In my opinion, Americans have been exposed to processed foods and meat all of our life A lot of our parents began feeding us things like chicken and pork from a very young age so we are kind of conditioned to eat and like it. Meat is a super easy thing to cook really quick and eat if you're on-the-go. ESPECIALLY with fast foods, there are vegetarian options but most if not all fast food places sell meat products. I'm not saying meat is bad by any means, because I still eat chicken but I think it says that a lot of our country is not willing to expand their diet and try new things!

Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

    Magdeline Aylor 4/24/2019 9:17 AM
I don't usually take walks around my neighborhood because I do kind of live in the middle of nowhere and I could easily get lost if I left my cul-de-sac so I decided just to walk around there for about ten minutes. I ended up staying a bit longer cause I was looking at a lot of the flowers and a neighbor stopped to talk to me. All in all it was very fun to get out of the house (even if just for a bit) and take a walk.
